Ingredients

For the Coffee:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) cold brew coffee (or strongly brewed coffee, chilled)
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) milk (whole, oat, or almond milk work well)
  • 1-2 tablespoons simple syrup (adjust to taste)
  • Ice cubes

For the Orange Cream Cold Foam:

  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) milk
  • 1 tablespoon orange juice (freshly squeezed, strained for pulp)
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest (finely grated)
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Equipment

  • Cold brew maker or coffee maker (for coffee)
  • Milk frother, blender, or handheld frother (for cold foam)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Fine grater (for orange zest)
  • Tall glass (12-16 oz)

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Coffee

  1. If using cold brew, prepare it in advance (steep coarse coffee grounds in cold water for 12-24 hours, then filter). Alternatively, brew strong coffee and chill it in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour.
  2. Fill a tall glass with ice cubes.
  3. Pour 1 cup of cold brew coffee (or chilled coffee) over the ice.
  4. Stir in 1-2 tablespoons of simple syrup, adjusting sweetness to your preference.
  5. Add 1/2 cup of milk and stir gently to combine.

Step 2: Make the Orange Cream Cold Foam

  1. In a small bowl or frothing pitcher, combine 1/4 cup heavy cream, 2 tablespoons milk, 1 tablespoon orange juice, 1 teaspoon orange zest, 1 tablespoon powdered sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract.
  2. Use a milk frother, handheld frother, or blender to whip the mixture until it forms a thick, frothy foam (about 30-60 seconds). The foam should hold soft peaks but still be pourable.

Step 3: Assemble the Drink

  1. Gently pour or spoon the orange cream cold foam over the prepared coffee, allowing it to layer on top.
  2. Optionally, garnish with a sprinkle of orange zest or a thin orange slice for extra flair.

Step 4: Serve

  • Serve immediately with a straw or spoon to enjoy the foam and coffee together. Stir gently before sipping to blend the flavors.

Tips

  • For a stronger orange flavor, increase the orange juice to 1.5 tablespoons, but avoid adding too much to prevent curdling.
  • Make simple syrup by dissolving 1 part sugar in 1 part water over low heat, then cooling it.
  • For a dairy-free version, use coconut cream for the foam and plant-based milk for the coffee.
  • Adjust the sweetness of the foam by adding more or less powdered sugar to taste.
