Ingredients (Serves 1)

  • Strawberry Puree:
    • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and chopped (or frozen strawberries, thawed)
    • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
    • 1 tablespoon water
  • Latte:
    • 1 shot (1 oz) espresso (or 1/4 cup strong brewed coffee)
    • 3/4 cup milk (whole, oat, or almond milk recommended)
    • 1-2 tablespoons strawberry puree (from above)
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Optional: 1-2 teaspoons simple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
  • Garnish:
    • Whipped cream
    • Fresh strawberry slices or dried strawberry powder
    • Pink sprinkles (optional)

Equipment

  • Blender or food processor
  • Small saucepan
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Milk frother or small whisk
  • Glass or mug (12-16 oz capacity)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Strawberry Puree:
    • In a blender, combine chopped strawberries, sugar, and water.
    • Blend until smooth (about 30 seconds).
    • Transfer the mixture to a small saucepan and heat over medium-low, stirring occasionally, for 5-7 minutes until slightly thickened.
    • Let cool, then strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds (optional for smoother texture). Set aside.
  2. Brew the Espresso:
    • Prepare 1 shot of espresso using an espresso machine or brew 1/4 cup of strong coffee. Let it cool slightly.
  3. Froth the Milk:
    • Heat the milk in a small saucepan or microwave until warm (not boiling, about 150°F/65°C).
    • Froth the milk using a milk frother, whisk, or by shaking it in a sealed jar until foamy.
  4. Assemble the Latte:
    • In a glass or mug, add 1-2 tablespoons of strawberry puree (adjust for desired sweetness).
    • Pour the espresso over the puree and stir gently to combine.
    • Add vanilla extract and optional simple syrup or honey, stirring well.
    • Slowly pour the frothed milk over the mixture, spooning the foam on top.
  5. Garnish and Serve:
    • Top with a dollop of whipped cream.
    • Garnish with fresh strawberry slices, a sprinkle of dried strawberry powder, or pink sprinkles for extra flair.
    • Serve immediately and enjoy!

Tips

  • For a colder version, chill the strawberry puree and use cold milk, then serve over ice.
  • Adjust the sweetness by varying the amount of sugar in the puree or adding more/less sweetener.
  • For a vegan option, use plant-based milk and skip the whipped cream or use a vegan alternative.
