- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
For the Avocado-Lime Sauce:
- 1 ripe avocado, pitted and peeled
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
- 1/4 cup cilantro, chopped
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 clove garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon cumin
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1-2 tablespoons water (to adjust consistency)
For Garnish (Optional):
- Lime wedges
- Extra chopped cilantro
- Sliced jalapeños
Equipment
- Baking sheet
- Wire rack (optional, for crispier wings)
- Large mixing bowl
- Blender or food processor
- Small bowl for tossing wings
Instructions
- Prepare the Wings:
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top if using.
- Pat the chicken wings dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the wings with baking powder, kosher salt, garlic powder, black pepper, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
- Bake the Wings:
- Arrange the wings in a single layer on the baking sheet or wire rack, ensuring they don’t touch each other.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, flipping the wings halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Make the Avocado-Lime Sauce:
- In a blender or food processor, combine the avocado, lime juice, cilantro, olive oil, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper.
- Blend until smooth, adding 1-2 tablespoons of water to reach your desired consistency. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
- Toss and Serve:
- Once the wings are baked, transfer them to a clean large bowl.
- Pour the avocado-lime sauce over the wings and toss gently to coat evenly.
- Transfer to a serving platter.
- Garnish and Enjoy:
- Garnish with lime wedges, extra chopped cilantro, and sliced jalapeños if desired.
- Serve immediately while the wings are hot and crispy.
Tips
- For extra crispiness, refrigerate the coated wings uncovered for 1-2 hours before baking to dry out the skin.
- The avocado-lime sauce can be made ahead and stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. Stir well before using.
- Pair with a side of celery sticks or a light salad for a complete meal.
