  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup ice cubes (optional, for a thicker shake)

For Homemade Apple Pie Filling (Optional):

  • 2 medium apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, peeled and diced)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch (mixed with 1 tablespoon water for slurry)

For Garnish:

  • Whipped cream
  • 1/4 cup crushed graham crackers or pie crust crumbs
  • Extra caramel sauce for drizzling
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (for dusting)

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Medium saucepan (if making homemade apple pie filling)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Glasses for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Apple Pie Filling (If Making Homemade)

  1. In a medium saucepan, melt 2 tablespoons butter over medium heat.
  2. Add diced apples, 1/4 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, and 1 tablespoon water. Stir to combine.
  3. Cook for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft but not mushy.
  4. Stir in the cornstarch slurry and cook for 1-2 minutes until the mixture thickens.
  5. Remove from heat and let cool completely before using in the shake.

Step 2: Blend the Shake

  1. In a blender, combine 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 1 cup apple pie filling, 1/2 cup milk, 2 tablespoons caramel sauce, 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract, and 1/2 cup ice cubes (if using).
  2. Blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds until smooth and creamy. If the shake is too thick, add more milk, 1 tablespoon at a time, until desired consistency is reached.

Step 3: Assemble and Garnish

  1. Drizzle the inside of serving glasses with caramel sauce for a decorative effect.
  2. Pour the shake into the glasses, filling them about 3/4 full.
  3. Top each shake with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  4. Sprinkle crushed graham crackers or pie crust crumbs over the whipped cream.
  5. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce and dust lightly with cinnamon.

Step 4: Serve

  • Serve immediately with a straw or spoon for the ultimate dessert experience.

Tips

  • For a stronger apple pie flavor, add an extra 1/4 cup of apple pie filling.
  • Use high-quality vanilla ice cream for the best creamy texture.
  • If you prefer a colder shake, chill the glasses in the freezer for 10 minutes before serving.
  • For a boozy twist (adults only), add 1 ounce of bourbon or spiced rum to the blender.
