  • 1 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For the Cinnamon Swirl Garnish:

  • 1 tsp brown sugar

Equipment Needed

  • Small saucepan (for syrup)
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker
  • Milk frother or small pot and whisk (for steaming milk)
  • Whisk or electric mixer (for whipped cream)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Mug (12–16 oz capacity)

Instructions

Step 1: Make the Cinnamon Syrup

  1. In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup water, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 2 cinnamon sticks (or 1 tsp ground cinnamon).
  2. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves.
  3. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 5–7 minutes, allowing the cinnamon to infuse.
  4. Remove from heat, stir in 1 tsp vanilla extract, and let cool slightly.
  5. If using cinnamon sticks, strain the syrup into a jar or bottle. If using ground cinnamon, it’s okay to leave it in for extra flavor.
  6. Set aside. The syrup can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Step 2: Prepare the Espresso

  1. Brew 1 shot (1 oz) of espresso using an espresso machine. Alternatively, brew 1/4 cup of strong coffee using a coffee maker or French press.
  2. Pour the espresso into a 12–16 oz mug.

Step 3: Steam the Milk

  1. Heat 1 cup of milk in a small pot over medium-low heat until steaming (do not boil), or use a milk frother/steamer if available.
  2. Froth the milk using a whisk, frother, or by shaking it in a sealed jar until it becomes foamy.
  3. Add 2 tbsp of cinnamon syrup to the steamed milk and stir gently. Add 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon for extra warmth, if desired.

Step 4: Make the Whipped Cream

  1. In a small bowl, combine 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 tbsp powdered sugar, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
  2. Whisk by hand or use an electric mixer until soft peaks form (about 2–3 minutes).

Step 5: Assemble the Latte

  1. Pour the cinnamon-infused steamed milk over the espresso in the mug, holding back some foam with a spoon if desired.
  2. Spoon or pipe the whipped cream on top of the latte.

Step 6: Add the Cinnamon Swirl Garnish

  1. Mix 1 tsp ground cinnamon and 1 tsp brown sugar in a small bowl.
  2. Sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture in a spiral pattern over the whipped cream for a decorative swirl effect. (Optional: use a toothpick to create a more intricate swirl design.)

Step 7: Serve

  1. Serve immediately while hot, with a spoon or straw for stirring.
  2. Enjoy the cozy, sweet, and spicy flavors of your Cinnamon Roll Latte Swirl!
