Ingredients

  • Hot Dogs: 4 all-beef hot dogs
  • Hot Dog Buns: 4 buns, split and toasted
  • Jalapeños: 2 fresh jalapeños, seeded and thinly sliced
  • Cream Cheese: 4 oz, softened
  • Cheddar Cheese: 1 cup, shredded
  • Bacon: 4 slices, cooked and crumbled
  • Garlic Powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Onion Powder: 1/2 tsp
  • Salt: 1/4 tsp
  • Black Pepper: 1/4 tsp
  • Green Onions: 2, thinly sliced (optional, for garnish)

Equipment

  • Grill or grill pan
  • Small mixing bowl
  • Spatula or spoon
  • Knife and cutting board
  • Tongs

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Cream Cheese Spread:
    • In a small mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well-blended. Set aside.
  2. Grill the Hot Dogs:
    • Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C).
    • Place the hot dogs on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are nicely charred and heated through.
  3. Toast the Buns:
    • Place the hot dog buns cut-side down on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted. Remove and set aside.
  4. Assemble the Hot Dogs:
    • Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on the inside of each toasted bun.
    • Place a grilled hot dog in each bun.
    • Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the hot dogs, allowing the heat to slightly melt the cheese.
    • Top each hot dog with sliced jalapeños and crumbled bacon.
    • Garnish with green onions, if using.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve immediately while hot, with optional sides like potato chips, coleslaw, or a pickle spear.

Tips

  • Adjust Spice Level: For less heat, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeños or use pickled jalapeños for a milder flavor.
  • Make Ahead: The cream cheese spread can be prepared up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
  • Variation: For extra crunch, mix some panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top before serving.
