- Jalapeños: 2 fresh jalapeños, seeded and thinly sliced
- Cream Cheese: 4 oz, softened
- Cheddar Cheese: 1 cup, shredded
- Bacon: 4 slices, cooked and crumbled
- Garlic Powder: 1/2 tsp
- Onion Powder: 1/2 tsp
- Salt: 1/4 tsp
- Black Pepper: 1/4 tsp
- Green Onions: 2, thinly sliced (optional, for garnish)
Equipment
- Grill or grill pan
- Small mixing bowl
- Spatula or spoon
- Knife and cutting board
- Tongs
Instructions
- Prepare the Cream Cheese Spread:
- In a small mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper. Mix until smooth and well-blended. Set aside.
- Grill the Hot Dogs:
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C).
- Place the hot dogs on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are nicely charred and heated through.
- Toast the Buns:
- Place the hot dog buns cut-side down on the grill for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted. Remove and set aside.
- Assemble the Hot Dogs:
- Spread a generous layer of the cream cheese mixture on the inside of each toasted bun.
- Place a grilled hot dog in each bun.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese over the hot dogs, allowing the heat to slightly melt the cheese.
- Top each hot dog with sliced jalapeños and crumbled bacon.
- Garnish with green onions, if using.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately while hot, with optional sides like potato chips, coleslaw, or a pickle spear.
Tips
- Adjust Spice Level: For less heat, remove all seeds and membranes from the jalapeños or use pickled jalapeños for a milder flavor.
- Make Ahead: The cream cheese spread can be prepared up to 2 days in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
- Variation: For extra crunch, mix some panko breadcrumbs with melted butter and sprinkle over the top before serving.
