- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a slight kick)
For Garnish (Optional):
- 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
- Lemon slices or wedges
Equipment
- Large mixing bowl
- Baking sheet with a wire rack
- Medium saucepan
- Whisk
- Tongs
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Wings
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
- Place a wire rack on a baking sheet and arrange the wings in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are crispy and golden brown (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).
Step 2: Make the Lemonade Glaze
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine lemonade, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, lemon zest, and minced garlic.
- Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and let it cook for 5-7 minutes to reduce slightly.
- Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture and continue to simmer for 1-2 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.
- If using, add red pepper flakes for a hint of spice. Remove from heat and set aside.
Step 3: Glaze the Wings
- Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
- Pour the lemonade glaze over the wings and toss gently to coat evenly.
Step 4: Serve
- Arrange the glazed wings on a serving platter.
- Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices or wedges, if desired.
- Serve immediately with extra napkins—these are sticky and delicious!
Tips
- For extra crispy wings, pat them dry with paper towels before seasoning.
- If you prefer grilling, cook the wings over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, then toss with the glaze.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
