Ingredients

For the Wings:

  • 2 lbs (900g) chicken wings, split into flats and drumettes
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika

For the Lemonade Glaze:

  • 1 cup lemonade (preferably fresh or high-quality store-bought)
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch mixed with 1 tablespoon water (for thickening)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a slight kick)

For Garnish (Optional):

  • 1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley
  • Lemon slices or wedges

Equipment

  • Large mixing bowl
  • Baking sheet with a wire rack
  • Medium saucepan
  • Whisk
  • Tongs

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Wings

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the chicken wings with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and smoked paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Place a wire rack on a baking sheet and arrange the wings in a single layer, ensuring they don’t touch.
  4. Bake for 35-40 minutes, flipping halfway through, until the wings are crispy and golden brown (internal temperature should reach 165°F/74°C).

Step 2: Make the Lemonade Glaze

  1. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine lemonade, honey, soy sauce, lemon juice, lemon zest, and minced garlic.
  2. Bring the mixture to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and let it cook for 5-7 minutes to reduce slightly.
  3. Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture and continue to simmer for 1-2 minutes until the glaze thickens slightly.
  4. If using, add red pepper flakes for a hint of spice. Remove from heat and set aside.

Step 3: Glaze the Wings

  1. Once the wings are cooked, transfer them to a large mixing bowl.
  2. Pour the lemonade glaze over the wings and toss gently to coat evenly.

Step 4: Serve

  1. Arrange the glazed wings on a serving platter.
  2. Garnish with chopped parsley and lemon slices or wedges, if desired.
  3. Serve immediately with extra napkins—these are sticky and delicious!

Tips

  • For extra crispy wings, pat them dry with paper towels before seasoning.
  • If you prefer grilling, cook the wings over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, turning occasionally, then toss with the glaze.
  • Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for 10-12 minutes.
