Ingredients

For the Latte:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) strong brewed coffee or 2 shots (60 ml) espresso
  • 1 cup (240 ml) milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based like oat or almond)
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of ground nutmeg (optional, for extra warmth)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)

For the Cinnamon-Sugar Rim (Optional):

  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon honey or simple syrup (for sticking)

Equipment

  • Small saucepan or milk frother
  • Mug (12-16 oz capacity)
  • Small bowl (for cinnamon-sugar mix)
  • Spoon or whisk
  • Espresso machine or coffee maker

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cinnamon-Sugar Rim (Optional)

  1. In a small bowl, mix 1 tablespoon granulated sugar with 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon.
  2. Brush the rim of your mug with honey or simple syrup.
  3. Dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat evenly. Set aside.

Step 2: Heat and Froth the Milk

  1. In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine 1 cup milk, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of nutmeg (if using).
  2. Stir gently until the sugar dissolves and the milk is steaming (about 2-3 minutes). Do not boil.
  3. Froth the milk using a milk frother, whisk, or by shaking it in a sealed jar until foamy. If you prefer a non-frothed latte, skip the frothing step.

Step 3: Brew the Coffee

  1. Brew 1 cup of strong coffee or prepare 2 shots of espresso.
  2. Pour the coffee or espresso into the prepared mug.

Step 4: Assemble the Latte

  1. Slowly pour the warm, frothed milk mixture over the coffee, spooning the foam on top if desired.
  2. Stir gently to combine the flavors.
  3. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of the cinnamon-sugar mixture for extra flair (optional).

Step 5: Serve

  1. Serve immediately while hot. Enjoy the warm, spiced flavors reminiscent of a snickerdoodle cookie!

Tips

  • Make it Iced: Brew the coffee ahead of time and let it cool. Use cold milk and pour over ice instead of heating.
  • Vegan Option: Use plant-based milk (oat milk works well for creaminess) and skip the whipped cream or use a vegan alternative.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Add more or less brown sugar to taste.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but you can store extra brewed coffee in the fridge for up to 2 days. Reheat and froth fresh milk when ready to serve.
