Ingredients

For the Glaze:

  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 tablespoons Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste for spiciness)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger

For the Hot Dogs:

  • 4 high-quality hot dogs (beef, pork, or plant-based)
  • 4 hot dog buns
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (for grilling)

Optional Toppings:

  • 1/4 cup chopped green onions
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1/2 cup shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
  • Lime wedges for serving

Equipment

  • Small saucepan
  • Grill or grill pan (or skillet)
  • Tongs
  • Basting brush

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Glaze:
    • In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
    • Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Preheat the Grill:
    • Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C). If using a skillet, heat it over medium heat with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
  3. Grill the Hot Dogs:
    • Place the hot dogs on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are heated through and have nice grill marks or a golden exterior.
    • During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush the hot dogs generously with the Sriracha honey glaze, turning to coat all sides. Reserve some glaze for serving.
  4. Toast the Buns:
    • Place the hot dog buns on the grill or in the skillet for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.
  5. Assemble the Hot Dogs:
    • Place each glazed hot dog in a toasted bun.
    • Drizzle a little extra glaze over the top, if desired.
    • Add optional toppings like chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or shredded cabbage for crunch and freshness.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for a zesty kick.

Serving Suggestions
