- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- 1/2 cup shredded cabbage or coleslaw mix
- Lime wedges for serving
Equipment
- Small saucepan
- Grill or grill pan (or skillet)
- Tongs
- Basting brush
Instructions
- Prepare the Glaze:
- In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine honey, Sriracha, soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, minced garlic, and grated ginger.
- Stir well and bring to a simmer. Reduce heat to low and cook for 3-5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the glaze thickens slightly. Remove from heat and set aside.
- Preheat the Grill:
- Preheat your grill or grill pan to medium-high heat (about 400°F/200°C). If using a skillet, heat it over medium heat with 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil.
- Grill the Hot Dogs:
- Place the hot dogs on the grill or in the skillet. Cook for 5-7 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are heated through and have nice grill marks or a golden exterior.
- During the last 2 minutes of cooking, brush the hot dogs generously with the Sriracha honey glaze, turning to coat all sides. Reserve some glaze for serving.
- Toast the Buns:
- Place the hot dog buns on the grill or in the skillet for 1-2 minutes until lightly toasted.
- Assemble the Hot Dogs:
- Place each glazed hot dog in a toasted bun.
- Drizzle a little extra glaze over the top, if desired.
- Add optional toppings like chopped green onions, sesame seeds, or shredded cabbage for crunch and freshness.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately with lime wedges on the side for a zesty kick.
Serving Suggestions
- Pair with sweet potato fries or a cucumber salad to balance the heat.
- Offer extra Sriracha or honey on the side for those who want to adjust the flavor.
