  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

For Garnish:

  • 2 fresh strawberries, halved
  • 2 tbsp crushed shortcake or pound cake crumbs
  • 1 tbsp strawberry sauce or jam (optional)
  • Sprinkles (optional)

Equipment:

  • Blender
  • Mixing bowl
  • Hand mixer or whisk
  • Tall glasses for serving
  • Straws and spoons

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Whipped Cream

  1. In a chilled mixing bowl, combine 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream, 1 tbsp powdered sugar, and 1/2 tsp vanilla extract.
  2. Whisk or use a hand mixer on medium speed until soft peaks form (about 2-3 minutes).
  3. Set aside in the refrigerator until ready to use.

Step 2: Blend the Shake

  1. In a blender, add 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 1 cup fresh strawberries, 1/2 cup whole milk, 1/4 cup heavy cream, 1 tsp vanilla extract, and 2 tbsp strawberry jam.
  2. Blend on medium-high speed until smooth and creamy, about 30-45 seconds. If the shake is too thick, add a splash more milk and blend again.
  3. Add 1/2 cup crushed shortcake or pound cake pieces and pulse the blender 2-3 times to incorporate, leaving some texture.

Step 3: Assemble the Sundaes

  1. Drizzle the inside of two tall glasses with strawberry sauce or jam (if using) for a decorative effect.
  2. Pour the shake evenly into the two glasses.
  3. Top each shake with a generous dollop of whipped cream.
  4. Sprinkle crushed shortcake or pound cake crumbs over the whipped cream.
  5. Garnish with a halved fresh strawberry and a pinch of sprinkles (if desired).

Step 4: Serve

  1. Serve immediately with straws and spoons for the ultimate sundae shake experience!

Tips

  • For a thicker shake, use less milk or add more ice cream.
  • Swap fresh strawberries for frozen ones if out of season; thaw slightly before blending.
  • For a stronger shortcake flavor, add an extra 1/4 cup of crushed cake to the shake.
  • Store any leftover whipped cream in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
