Ingredients:

  • 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans
  • 4 cups cold, filtered water
  • 1 cup cornflakes (or your favorite cereal)
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional: Whipped cream or cinnamon for garnish

Equipment:

  • Large jar or pitcher (for cold brew)
  • Fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth
  • Medium bowl (for cereal milk)
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Spoon for stirring

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Cold Brew:
    • In a large jar or pitcher, combine 1 cup coarsely ground coffee beans with 4 cups cold, filtered water.
    • Stir gently to ensure all coffee grounds are wet.
    • Cover and let steep in the refrigerator for 12–18 hours.
    • After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a clean container. Discard the coffee grounds. Set the cold brew concentrate aside.
  2. Make the Cereal Milk:
    • In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup cornflakes with 2 cups whole milk.
    • Stir and let sit for 20–30 minutes to allow the cereal to infuse the milk.
    • Strain the milk through a fine mesh strainer into a clean container, pressing gently on the cereal to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the soggy cereal.
    • Add 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the cereal milk. Stir until the sugar is fully dissolved.
  3. Combine and Serve:
    • Fill a glass with ice cubes.
    • Pour 1 part cold brew concentrate and 1 part cereal milk over the ice (e.g., ½ cup cold brew + ½ cup cereal milk for a single serving). Adjust the ratio to your preference for stronger or milder coffee flavor.
    • Stir gently to combine.
    • Optional: Top with whipped cream or a sprinkle of cinnamon for extra flair.

Tips:

  • Store extra cold brew concentrate in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
  • Cereal milk can be refrigerated for up to 3 days; stir before using.
  • Experiment with different cereals (e.g., Cinnamon Toast Crunch or Fruity Pebbles) for unique flavor profiles.
  • For a sweeter drink, add more brown sugar or a drizzle of honey.

Serving Size:

  • Makes approximately 4 servings (1 cup each)
