Ingredients:
- Coffee: 1 cup (8 oz) strong brewed coffee (preferably cold brew or espresso, cooled)
- Milk: 1/2 cup (4 oz) milk of choice (dairy, oat, almond, etc.)
- Honey: 1–2 tablespoons, adjust to taste
- Lavender: 1 teaspoon dried culinary lavender (food-grade)
- Water: 1/4 cup (2 oz) for lavender syrup
- Sugar: 1/4 cup granulated sugar for lavender syrup
- Ice: 1–2 cups, as needed
- Optional: Whipped cream or lavender buds for garnish
Equipment:
- Small saucepan
- Fine mesh strainer
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Glass or pitcher for serving
- Spoon or stirrer
Instructions:
- Prepare Lavender Syrup:
- In a small saucepan, combine 1/4 cup water, 1/4 cup sugar, and 1 teaspoon dried lavender.
- Bring to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves.
- Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes to infuse lavender flavor.
- Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
- Strain through a fine mesh strainer into a clean container, discarding lavender buds.
- Let syrup cool completely (can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 week).
- Brew Coffee:
- Prepare 1 cup of strong coffee using your preferred method (cold brew, espresso, or drip). If using hot coffee, let it cool to room temperature or chill in the fridge to avoid melting ice too quickly.
- Assemble Iced Coffee:
- Fill a glass with 1–2 cups of ice.
- Pour 1 cup of cooled coffee over the ice.
- Add 1–2 tablespoons of honey, depending on desired sweetness, and stir until dissolved.
- Add 1–2 teaspoons of lavender syrup (adjust to taste) and stir well.
- Add Milk:
- Pour 1/2 cup of milk over the coffee mixture and stir gently to combine.
- Optional Garnish:
- Top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of dried lavender buds for an elegant touch.
- Serve:
- Serve immediately with a straw or spoon for stirring. Enjoy the floral, sweet, and refreshing flavors!
Tips:
- Lavender Strength: Start with 1 teaspoon of lavender syrup and adjust to avoid overpowering the coffee.
- Cold Brew Option: For a smoother taste, use cold brew coffee prepared in advance (steep coarse coffee grounds in cold water for 12–24 hours, then filter).
- Vegan Option: Use plant-based milk (oat or almond work well) and ensure honey is replaced with agave syrup if desired.
- Storage: Store leftover lavender syrup in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 week.
