Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh mango chunks (about 2 medium mangos, peeled and diced, or use frozen mango chunks)
  • 1 cup vanilla ice cream (or dairy-free alternative for a lighter option)
  • 1/2 cup milk (whole, 2%, or plant-based milk like almond or oat)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (optional, for extra sweetness)
  • 1 teaspoon Tajín Clásico seasoning (plus extra for garnish)
  • 1/2 teaspoon lime zest (freshly grated)
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 cup ice cubes (for a thicker, frostier texture)
  • Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
  • Mango slices or lime wedges (optional, for garnish)

Equipment

  • Blender
  • Measuring cups and spoons
  • Zester or grater
  • Knife and cutting board (if using fresh mango)
  • Glasses for serving

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mango: If using fresh mangos, peel and dice them into chunks. Measure out 2 cups and set aside.
  2. Blend the Base: In a blender, combine the mango chunks, vanilla ice cream, milk, honey (if using), Tajín seasoning, lime zest, and lime juice. Add the ice cubes.
  3. Blend Until Smooth: Blend on high speed for 30–45 seconds, or until the mixture is creamy and smooth. Stop and scrape down the sides of the blender if needed to ensure even blending.
  4. Taste and Adjust: Taste the shake and adjust the flavors if desired—add more Tajín for extra spice, lime juice for tang, or honey for sweetness.
  5. Serve: Pour the shake into chilled glasses. Optionally, top with a dollop of whipped cream and a sprinkle of Tajín seasoning for a vibrant finish.
  6. Garnish: Add a slice of mango or a lime wedge to the rim of the glass for an attractive presentation.
  7. Enjoy Immediately: Serve with a straw or spoon and enjoy the spicy-sweet fusion while it’s cold!

Tips

  • Adjust Spice Level: Tajín adds a mild chili-lime kick. Start with 1/2 teaspoon if you prefer less spice, and increase to taste.
  • Make it Vegan: Use dairy-free ice cream (like coconut or almond-based) and plant-based milk for a vegan-friendly version.
  • No Fresh Mango? Frozen mango works just as well and enhances the shake’s frosty texture. No need to thaw before blending.
  • Storage: Best enjoyed fresh, but if needed, store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. Stir or blend again before serving.
