Ingredients
- 1 ripe banana, peeled and sliced
- 1 cup brewed coffee, cooled (regular or decaf)
- 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy, such as almond or oat milk)
- 1/2 cup plain or vanilla Greek yogurt
- 1/4 cup rolled oats
- 1 tablespoon almond butter (or peanut butter)
- 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional, for extra warmth)
- 1 cup ice cubes
- Whipped cream (optional, for topping)
- Crushed walnuts or cinnamon (optional, for garnish)
Equipment
- Blender
- Measuring cups and spoons
- Glass for serving
Instructions
- Prepare the Coffee: Brew 1 cup of coffee and let it cool to room temperature or chill it in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes. Cold coffee works best to avoid melting the ice too quickly.
- Add Ingredients to Blender: In a blender, combine the sliced banana, cooled coffee, milk, Greek yogurt, rolled oats, almond butter, maple syrup (or honey), cinnamon, vanilla extract, and nutmeg (if using).
- Add Ice: Add 1 cup of ice cubes to the blender.
- Blend: Blend on high speed for 30-45 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and frothy. Scrape down the sides of the blender if needed to ensure all ingredients are fully incorporated.
- Taste and Adjust: Taste the shake and adjust sweetness by adding more maple syrup or honey if desired. Blend again briefly if adjustments are made.
- Serve: Pour the shake into a chilled glass. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of crushed walnuts or cinnamon, if desired.
- Enjoy: Serve immediately with a straw or spoon for a refreshing treat!
Tips
- For a stronger coffee flavor, use espresso or double the coffee amount and reduce the milk to 1/4 cup.
- Freeze the banana slices beforehand for an extra thick and frosty shake.
- Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Shake or stir before serving.
